FAQ

Why Are Nail “Scales” Important for Better Adhesion?

Proper nail preparation is one of the key factors for long-lasting retention. Before applying Rubber Base, it is important to prepare the natural nail correctly.

Do not use a buffer to overly smooth the nail surface. Instead, use a 180–200 grit file to gently remove the natural shine and create small “scales” on the nail surface.

These small scales create surface texture that helps Rubber Base grip and attach properly to the natural nail, creating stronger adhesion and better retention.

Why Is It Important to Remove Dust With Nail Fresher?

After filing the natural nail, small dust particles can remain on the nail surface. Even tiny particles may affect product application and retention.

Using Nail Fresher helps properly clean and prepare the nail surface before applying the next products.

Why Do You Need a Nail Dehydrator?

A Dehydrator is an important step during nail preparation. It helps create a clean surface and improves product retention before applying Rubber Base or any gel system.

Benefits of using Dehydrator:

* Removes excess moisture
* Removes natural oils
* Improves adhesion
* Reduces lifting
* Creates a better foundation for products
* Helps increase retention and wear time

Proper nail preparation is one of the key factors for long-lasting results.

What Is the Difference Between Ultrabond and Acid Primer?

Both products help improve adhesion and reduce lifting, but they work differently.

Ultrabond (Acid-Free)
* Gentle, acid-free formula
* Works like a double-sided adhesive layer
* Suitable for most clients
* Apply a very thin layer after Dehydrator
* Air dry — do not cure

Acid Primer
* Stronger adhesion support
* Recommended for oily nail plates or difficult retention cases
* Apply a very small amount only where needed
* Air dry — do not cure

How to Use Kodi Professional Rubber Base Correctly

Rubber Base creates a flexible adhesive layer that helps improve retention and creates the perfect foundation for your nail system. Proper nail preparation and application are essential for long-lasting results.

Step 1: Prepare the Nail Plate

Proper preparation is one of the most important steps for preventing lifting.

Follow these steps:

* Push back and clean the cuticle area
* Remove shine from the natural nail using a 180-grit file
* Remove dust with Nail Fresher/Cleanser
* Apply Dehydrator
* Apply a thin layer of Ultrabond (avoid touching the skin)

Step 2: Apply Rubber Base

Using a separate brush, take a small amount of Rubber Base and apply a very thin rubbing layer into the nail plate.

Do not float the product on top of the nail. Use rubbing motions to help the Rubber Base penetrate and grip the nail surface properly.

Cure for 60 seconds in an LED lamp.

Step 3: Continue With Your Gel System

Application depends on the product you use next:

For Build It Up Gel:
Remove the sticky layer before applying the gel.

For other Kodi Professional gels:
Removing the sticky layer is optional.

For gels from other brands:
We recommend removing the sticky layer before application to create better compatibility between systems.

Should You Remove the Sticky Layer From Kodi Professional Rubber Base?

The sticky layer on Kodi Professional Rubber Base should only be removed when applying Build It Up Gel.

For other Kodi Professional gels, removing the sticky layer is not required.

However, if you are applying gels from other brands, it is recommended to remove the sticky layer from the Rubber Base before continuing.

Do You Always Need Rubber Base Under Gel?

Most Kodi Professional gels require Rubber Base for better adhesion and retention.

The exception is One Phase Gel, which can be applied without Rubber Base, but Primer/Ultrabond must be applied before application.

What Are the Strongest Kodi Professional Gels for Long Nails?

If you are creating long nails, choosing a strong gel system is important for durability and support.

The strongest Kodi Professional gels are:

1. One Phase Gel – strongest gel
* Maximum strength
* Excellent for long nails and strong structures

2. Crystal Gel
* Very durable and hard
* Perfect for long nails and extensions

3. Self Level Gel
* Strong structure with self-leveling properties
* Great for strengthening and medium to long nails

Why Do Some Gels Burn in the Lamp?

The heat sensation usually happens during curing and is more common with more liquid-consistency gels, such as Build It Up Gel and Liquid Gel.

Cold Gel is designed to create minimal heat sensation. Other gels should be applied in thin layers.

If you feel burning:

* Remove the hand from the lamp for a few seconds
* Place it back into the lamp and continue curing
* Avoid applying very thick layers

When used correctly, this temporary heat sensation does not damage the natural nail.
